who is behind Luna Rosa counseling?
Isabella Xochitl Ordaz is an experienced counselor with over six years working in college access. She has worked at both Holy Names University and University of Southern California (USC) as an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions, as well as a college counselor to students who identify as first-generation-college-going and neurodivergent. Isabella has successfully supported students in not just receiving acceptance to prestigious universities such as Johns Hopkins and UC Berkeley— she has also supported students as they made sense of their journey and purpose in going to college. Isabella is a holistic counselor who is ready to guide students through discerning their next steps in life.

the Luna Rosa counseling philosophy
Understand the world you come from
It is essential that students have a strong sense of and ability to articulate their backgrounds before beginning to imagine their future, as well as plan for it.
Co-create your next steps
Students must have agency in determining their next steps in life— they must take ownership. At the same time, it is also necessary that students acknowledge that they exist in a world that presents challenges, and they are going to have to work alongside others to reach their goals.
Hold space for celebration
I strive to affirm students as often as I provide constructive feedback. It has been proven that positive encouragement is the best motivator to students, especially those who are overcoming structural inequality in education. Luna Rosa holds sacred space for constantly celebrating students in their wholeness.
